In the article "Women Dentistry," talks about how women play a big part in the dental field and how men do not. This field is more of a soft and gentle nature and that is what women are. Most people believe that men should not be in the dental field and if they are they should be the actual dentist, well I think different.

"Gender differences in income are frequent topics of discussion. According to a 1995 ADA survey, nearly two-thirds of female dentists believe that they earn less than their male counterparts, while nearly two-thirds of male dentists believe that there is no gender difference in dentists." Men may not think there are difference, but there is. This is another reason why some men wont go into the dental hygienist field because they will earn less money. Womens jobs tend to get paid way less than mens jobs because they are not as hard or important as mens jobs. All jobs should be equal no matter if it is a man job or a woman job.

Women have been going into mens jobs for years now, but men will not dare to try to go into a womens job. "The number of women in the pipeline for a career in dentistry has grown dramatically over the last 30 years." Pipeline is a very dangerous and is mainly for men because women are too weak. That is the same with Dental hygiene. Men wont go into that field because they will be made fun of because it is a gentle job. Well if men were more like women maybe all the jobs would be equal.

'Men were more likely than women to say they would be in a solo practice five years after dental school." Another reason more men do not go into being a dental hygienist because they like to work solo which makes them want to go into being just a dentist. Women frequently like to work together with other people and not have there own practice. If more men went into the dental hygienist field then maybe they would be roll models for other men.

All around my town there are mainly men dentists and they are accompanied by there female assistants. That's why I think men are down graded because they think that they cant go into that field because it is all women. Men should be able to do what they want without being judged.

For years women have dominated the dental hygienist field. Men need to step up and show that they can do womens jobs just like women have showed that they can do mens jobs just as well as men can do them.
