The book that I just read was "The Host" by Stephenie Myer. This book got me thinking about how the future could could be for us and its not a good one. This book was a very good book in my opinion . I could not put it down. Each chapter always led me to wanting to know more.
One of the main characters in this book is named Melanie Styder. She is one of the many people that has survived from being abducted by the parasite alien race. They all have been hiding in a mountain in the middle of no where. One day as she is going out to find food for her friends and family she gets taken by the alien people and they try to take her soul out to put the parasite alien in her. Little did they know her soul was a fighter and it would be difficult to get rid of. " Go ahead, make my murder official." This is showing that Melanie is a fighter and is strong. In the book she will do anything for her brother Jamie and her boyfriend Jared. When she gets abducted she hides all her thoughts from the alien parasite. I like the style this book was written in because it always led me to wanting to know more. It also had a little of humor and romance in it. The book was not just focused on one thing. The love story wasn't all lovey dovey either. It was more like a love story that you knew was going to happen. One of the settings is in the middle of a desert. This setting effected the characters because it gave the humans a place to be safe and hide from the aliens. They wouldn't be able to hide in like a city because they would be able to tell they was not aliens and then they would get taken away and there would be no humans left on earth.
I would recommend this book to someone who liked their heart racing while they read a book because that is what it did to me. I would give this book a 4 out of 5 stars just because I did not like the ending. I wasn't expecting it and it was just a boring ending.
