Current Connection 2.1

In the article ‘Intensive' exercise may benefit heart failure patients posted by Reuters, it talks about people who are at risk for heart failure or very bad heart problems can get better by exercising.

Now you may think I am crazy when I say this, but it is a proven fact that exercise can benefit heart failure patients. " 23-percent improvement in heart function after taking part in relatively high-intensity exercise programs." Exercising will get your heart as healthy has a 5 years kids heart if you exercise enough.

Running around the medical rooms, heart patients try to strengthen their hearts. Heart Failure, a nasty disease with so cure, that effects the body greatly, is very serious and we need to do anything we can to make the length of someone's life. Many people though do not want to participate in the program because it may scare them because of their bad hearts, but there is no cure so it doesn't hurt to try.

Helping the patients, the doctors have them do multiple exercises and test their oxygen. Studies show that the people who do the high intensive exercises, their oxygen levels have improved greatly within the 4 to 52 weeks of doing this program. Also the patients notice that they are less tired and want to be active more.

Improving their strength, the patients start to change the odds in their lives. The patients who are doing these exercises have shown that  by doing the exercises reducing the deaths in heart patients.  There maybe not be a lot of evidence for us to just start exercising the sick patients, but from what we have I think its a good start. If we can save many lives by doing this I think its a good idea.

Current Connection 1.2

School Bullying

School Bulling as struck schools nation wide hard the past couple of years. In the article Bullying and Teasing: No Laughing Matter, it talks about how bullying is really dangerous for children and even some adults today. It is really a huge topic for many parents and schools.

Often, bullying is usually consisted of a bigger child  picking on a littler child. The bullies, a child that is older and bigger usually picks on the younger kids by "verbal bullying (making threats, name-calling), psychological bullying (excluding children, spreading rumors), or physical bullying (hitting, pushing, taking a child's possessions)." The bullies may think its all fun and games, but it really is a horrible thing to do.

The victim, a shy and tender child does not always know how to handle bullies. Some may go to teachers or their parents or maybe a sibling, but some kids just are fed up with it and can not take the bulling anymore and they will take their own life. Some adults do not take it seriously and that is what leads to so many deaths of children. Some early signs that a child is getting bullied are, "Frequent crying, Recurrent complaints of physical symptoms such as stomach-aches or headaches with no apparent cause, Unexplained bruises, Sudden drop in grades or other learning problems, and Not wanting to go to school."

As a nation we need to come together and stop bulling. I know that we will not be able to stop it completely because we have tried to stop it before. Either by having meetings with kids or just putting up signs around the hallways at school. There are lives being taken and so many small innocent children being beaten everyday and it should not be happening.

"Adults need to intervene to help children resolve bullying issues." They should either go to another parent or maybe the school board if their child is being bullied. If none of that works then they need to give their child some advice. The child should never be alone. They need to get some buddies and stick together with one another to prevent any beatings. They may not be able to stop any name calling or anything, but they can try.

Bulling is no laughing matter. I would think people would want it to stop, but maybe the truth is we cant stop it. No matter how hard we try there will always be bullies in school. Not all of them can be stopped. We should be able to see the signs on a child that is being bullied and when we see those warning signs then we can stop and help that child before they think of the worse.

Michelle Obama Changes School Food

Current Connection 1.1

CBS New's reporter Jan Crawford in his news report, "Michelle Obama-touted federal healthy lunch program leaves bad taste in some school districts mouths." talks about how the change in food can be bad for the schools.

Schools around the world have been changing their lunch room food and the kids are not liking it. The students refuse to eat the food they are provided because they say "it taste like vomit." Even though it is supposed to be healthy, it doesn't mean they are going to eat it. Some of the foods that are healthy do not taste that well at all and the school administration thinks we are going to eat it, but truth is we do not eat half of the food they give us.

"About 100,000 schools have signed up for the program." I agree with this program, but they need to gradually get into it. If they just randomly change all the food the students will defiantly not eat it. The main reason is because they will not have many choices to choose from.

"The healthy lunches went over like a plate of cold leftovers." Most kids today do not care if they eat healthy or not and that is the problem. Majority of kids are getting obese and that is really not healthy. The program Michelle is trying to get started would work if the food was reasonable. I have had my own experience of this lunch room food and it was awful. Most of the food gets wasted because it just gets thrown away. That means the school loses money and that could cause a big fuss with the school administration. What is the point in providing food for the students if they are just going to throw it away?

David Freedman states, "Any time we try to get people to push or force them into it, we can expect probably the majority of people won't want to take the leap." He is proving that people will do what they want anytime they want and not listen to anyone else even if it will help them. Obesity is awful in the world today and that's why Michelle is trying to get this program going. If we get more fruits and vegetables in the lunch room, it will start to make this generation more healthy. Or at least make the food taste better so the kids will eat it.

This program is a great way start in getting this generation more healthy. The people today mainly eat fast food and that is way to fattening. So if they get at least one healthy meal in, that will help them out big time. We need to make our generation better and I for one agree this is a great start.
